NAMA To Complete Final Repayment Of €30.2bn Govt Guaranteed Debt
NAMA has announced plans to redeem its final €500 million tranche of the €30.2 billion Government guaranteed senior debt a full three years ahead of its original schedule.
Welcoming the announcement, Minister for Finance and Public Expenditure & Reform, Paschal Donohoe TD, said: "This is a remarkable achievement and a landmark day in Ireland's recovery from the financial crisis, which every day we leave further behind.
"Today's announcement is a testament to the focus and dedication of the NAMA Board and staff. In particular, I want to thank the NAMA Chairman, Frank Daly, and Chief Executive, Brendan McDonagh, for their guidance which has been instrumental in reaching this point.
"NAMA's performance has always, to some degree, been linked to Ireland's recovery. The fact that NAMA is currently forecasting a surplus of €3bn, which will accrue to the State over the coming years, is a testament to the strength of our economy and the journey we have made. Budget 2018, which I delivered this week, outlined plans to further utilise the skills and experience that have been built up in NAMA down through the years, and I look forward to those involved in the Agency continuing to make a contribution to our continued progress in the period ahead."

Shares Rise As NAMA Debate Continues
The market has reacted positively to the ongoing debate on the National Asset Management Agency, (NAMA). This morning, shares in Irish banks rose in early trading with AIB up 29% in the first 20 minutes of trade in Dublin this morning, to stand at €3.40. Bank of Ireland shares also gained rising almost 17% to stand at €3.

A new whiskey distillery is to be opened in Dublin's Newmarket Square in The Liberties, creating 30 jobs. The Teeling Whiskey Company announced plans for a €10m investment, which will see the first whiskey distillery to open in Dublin in 125 years.

'Promote Ireland' Programme Announced For St Patrick's Day
The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Charlie Flanagan, has announced the 'Promote Ireland' programme of international events marking St Patrick's Day 2017. The programme will see the Taoiseach, Tánaiste and 27 Ministers taking part in over 100 business events and high-level political meetings in 27 countries.

College-Led Consortium To Deliver Higher Education Programme
A consortium led by Mary Immaculate College in Limerick has been selected to deliver the new national Higher Education Programme for Inclusion Co-ordinators in Early Years Settings. The contract was awarded by Youth Minister Dr James Reilly alongside Education and Skills Minister Jan O'Sullivan.
