Renewed Appeal For Barbara Walsh
The family of Barbara Walsh who disappeared in June 1985 has made a fresh appeal for information on RTÉ's Prime Time.
According to the programme, the Galway mother-of-seven was last seen by one of her daughters, Jacqui, at their family home in Roisín na Mainiach near Carna in the Connemara Gaeltacht in the early hours of 22 June 1985.
It is understood that 34-year-old Ms Walsh disappeared without trace following an impromptu gathering at her home. According to to the programme about a dozen people had gathered at her home, including to garda officers.
The party ended just hours before Ms Walsh disappeared.
Speaking on the programme, Jacqui, who was 14 at the time, told how she had seen her mother asleep on the sofa in the early hours of that Saturday. She spoke about putting a blanket over her mother and going back to bed. When she got up the next morning, her mother was gone.
A number of months passed before any public appeals for information on Ms Walsh's whereabouts were issued.
It is understood that some 70 witnesses statements have been collected during a reinvestigation of the case launched by garda.
Jacqui said that she believes that "there are people still alive with direct knowledge of what happened to our mother".
Anyone with information should contact the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111.
