ED Tallaght Hospital Nurses Continue To Face 'Serious Difficulties'
Nursing staff in the Emergency Department of Tallaght Hospital are continuing to face "serious difficulties", according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO).
The organisation confirmed Manageement raised ongoing staffing difficulties and overcrowding at a meeting with the INMO on the 22 November.
INMO said at the meeting, management confirmed;
• There remains a shortage in the Nursing WTE required in the Emergency Depart
• The approved 6 WTE Nursing posts, specifically required to care for admitted patients in the Emergency Department, as part of the INMO/HSE agreement in July 2017, have yet to commence
• The difficulties in Rapid Access Triage and Ambulatory Care were acknowledged and these are due to staffing shortfalls
• The Hospital remains in Black Escalation on a continuous basis, including additional trolleys on In-Patient Wards
The INMO has now called for the presence of Senior Clinical decision makers on a 24/7 basis within the Emergency Department at Tallaght Hospital.
