Alcohol Worth €165,000 Seized At Dublin Port

Revenue officers at Dublin Port have seized over 25,700 litres of beer with a retail value of over €165,000.

Officers discovered the smuggled alcohol when they stopped and searched a foreign-registered truck that had disembarked a ferry from Holyhead.

The driver, a man aged in his 20s, was questioned and both the trailer and the smuggled beer were seized.

The seized alcohol represents a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €65,800. Investigations are ongoing.

This seizure is part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the supply and sale of illegal alcohol in the shadow economy. Revenue officers have seized herbal cannabis and ecstasy tablets worth an estimated €48,850 at Dublin Mail Centre The illegal drugs were discovered in 14 separate parcels originating from the United States and the Netherlands and were declared as items such as 'fabric', 'gloves', 'bathrobe' and 'denim hooded jacket'.

Alcohol And Cigarettes Seized In Revenue Operations
Quantities of illegal alcohol and cigarettes have been seized by Revenue Officers in two operations over the weekend. Cigarettes, branded 'Kent', 'Kent Slims', 'NZ', and 'Compliment Slims', were siezed following a search of a Romanian registered bus that disembarked a ferry from Holyhead at Dublin Port.
