Talks Ongoing To Avoid Nursing Strike
Talks aimed at avoiding a strike by 43,000 nurses later this month are continuing today.
Union representatives are negotiating with the Health Service Executive (HSE) after last week's discussions ended without a breakthrough.
Nine separate days of industrial demonstrations surrounding levels of pay and working conditions for nurses are currently planned.
On Tuesday 15 January, the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) and the Psychiatric Nurses Association (PNA) met with the executive in a bid to prevent the strikes, but the unions involved weren't satisfied with the proposals.
The INMO remain set to hold six nationwide 24-hour strikes beginning on 30 January, while the PNA is planning a three-day stoppage which will start on 12 February.
