More Than Words Needed To Deliver Real Equality For Women - SF
International Women's Day must be about more than words and action is needed to deliver real equality for women in Ireland, Sinn Féin President Mary Lou McDonald has said.
She said: "This International Women's Day must be about more than words. We need action to deliver real equality for women.
"We have a cost of living crisis which is disproportionately affecting women, including single parents who face massive levels of inequality and deprivation.
"We have a culture of low pay and low hour contracts while at the same time childcare costs continue to soar.
"The scourge of domestic violence demands radical action from government.
"Women in the north still do not have equal access to health care.
"So, while we celebrate International Women's Day, we must be mindful that we still have work to do.
"Let's match words with action this International Women's Day. Let's continue the fight for equality for women."
