Brexit Game Playing In The North 'Reckless' - FF

Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on North-South Bodies & Cross Border Co-Operation and TD for Louth, Declan Breathnach, has slammed the approach taken by the DUP and Sinn Fein toward powering sharing and Brexit in the North at this critical time.

Deputy Breathnach said: "Sinn Fein and the DUP have both ran away from their responsibilities in Northern Ireland. Voters in the North are frustrated with the approach taken by the parties who have put their own interests before those they represent.

"Brexit is not about pushing a constitutional agenda, it is about trying to protect the people of the North of Ireland and island of Ireland.

"It is over 2 years since the late Martin McGuinness resigned as Deputy First Minister. It was a move that led to the collapse of the Executive and the suspension of the Northern Ireland Assembly.

"It is nothing short of an outrage that, more than two years later, the Northern Ireland Assembly is still not sitting and Northern Ireland does not have an Executive as established under the Good Friday Agreement, overwhelmingly endorsed by the people North and South in referenda.

"It is disappointing that both the DUP and Sinn Fein have chosen to ignore the will of the people of Northern Ireland at this critical time," concluded Deputy Breathnach.
