Over 1m Cigarettes Seized In Dublin Port
Revenue officers have seized just over one million smuggled cigarettes in Dublin Port.
The unstamped cigarettes were discovered with the assistance of revenue detector dogs and a mobile x-ray scanner when officers conducted an examination of freight which arrived from Rotterdam.
The 'Marlboro' branded cigarettes have a retail value of almost €500,000, representing a potential loss to the exchequer of €422,000.
Investigations are ongoing.

Revenue Customs Officers have seized over 10.3 million cigarettes, with a retail value of over €4.7m at Dublin Port. The Don Corleone cigarettes were hidden in a 40-foot container and were described as "paper handkerchiefs" on the manifest. The investigation is continuing.
