Parents To Face Major Fines For Buying Scramblers For Underage Children
Fianna Fáil have proposed a new Bill that could see parents who buy scramblers for underage children facing a fine of up to €5,000.
The new Bill would also give Garda the power to seize and destroy scramblers and quad bikes used in anti-social manner.
Twenty seven children and 12 adults died in scrambler related incidents between 2014 and 2017.
Introducing the Bill, Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Drugs Strategy and Urban Affairs, John Curran, said that garda are restricted under current legislation and that riding a quad or scrambler bike in an antisocial and dangerous manner will be an offence under Ireland's public order legislation.

Sinn Féin's leader in the Seanad, Senator David Cullinane has called on Labour Party Senators to have the courage of their convictions and vote against the Social Welfare Bill tomorrow. Senator Cullinane said he believes the Social Welfare Bill can be defeated in the Seanad putting further pressure on the Dáil to vote it down.

Ahern To Halve 12-Year Bankruptcy Status
