Taoiseach In Further Brexit Talks
An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has been engaging in further talks around Brexit, including a meeting with the EU's Chief negotiator Michel Barnier and UK Prime Minister Theresa May.
It comes ahead of this week's European Council meeting, and has also seen Mr Varadkar speak to Prime Ministers Rutte of the Netherlands, Bettel of Luxembourg and Muscat of Malta.
At a joint press conference on Monday, 08 April, Michel Barnier said the EU will "stand fully behind Ireland" regardless of what happens over the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, the conversation with Theresa May revolved around her recent letter to Donald Tusk seeking an extension to Article 50. The Taoiseach has repeatedly expressed his openness to an extension of the deadline.

The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has met with French President, Francois Hollande, to discuss a range of EU counter-terrorism measures and the impact of the UK's Brexit decision. During the meeting the Taoiseach reiterated the sympathy and solidarity of the Irish people with France in the wake of the attack in Nice on 14 July.

Former Taoiseach Albert Reynolds Dies Aged 81
Former Taoiseach Albert Reynolds has died aged 81. Reynolds, born in Rooskey, Co Roscommon, served as a minister in a number of governmental departments and was elected Taoiseach on two occasions. He has been honoured as playing an integral role in the Northern Ireland peace process. His death was announced by his eldest son, Philip Reynolds.
