Man Assaulted By Gang In Drogheda

An investigation has been launched following an assault in Drogheda, Co Louth.

Gardaí have issued an appeal for information after a man in his late 20s was assaulted by four men in Moneymore in an incident at about 10.30pm last night, Monday 29 April.

The man remains in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, however his injuries are described as non-life-threatening.

Since June of last year, there have been 74 serious incidents in Drogheda amid an ongoing gang feud. It is not know if this incident is related to the feud.

Garda Appeal For Information On Drogheda Shooting Incident
An investigation has been launched into a shooting incident in Drogheda. A man, aged in his 30s, is in a serious condition in hospital after he was shot in the neck in an incident at the M1 Retail Park which occurred at about 2.45pm on Tuesday 27 February.

Two Arrested And Firearm Seized In Drogheda Area
Two people have been arrested and a firearm has been seized following a Gardai operation targeting dissident republican activity in the Drogheda area. On 11 July, Garda stopped and searched a car at around 3pm in the Crushrod Avenue area.

INMO Members Hold Further Protests
Nurses and midwives, members of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO), SIPTU and the PNA, are to hold further lunchtime protests. The action is being taken today (2 March) in a number of locations. It is in response to a proposed 50% increase in the annual retention fee being sought by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).

Drivers Urged To Take Extra Care On The Roads
Motorists have been urged to take extra care on the roads due to snowfall overnight. On minor roads, ice and snow are causing major problems. Cavan, Drogheda, Monaghon, Kells, Greystones, Navan and Kilkenny city have particularly been affected by heavy snow. It will be very cold and windy today with frequent showers, according to Met Eireann.
