Irishman Dies In Sydney Road Crash

An Irishman has lost his life in a road crash in Sydney, Australia.

The 36-year-old was travelling to work when his car was hit by a lorry in a multi-car collision.

He worked as a tradesman and lived in the Wentworthville area of the city.

The Irish consulate in Sydney is offering consular assistance to the victim's family.

Five people were also taken to hospital after the crash.

Irishman Arrested Boarding Flight After Sydney Crash
An Irishman has been arrested boarding a flight from Australia following a crash in Sydney. The 22-year-old, who is understood to be from County Donegal, was detained at Sydney Airport on Monday. The crash is believed to have taken place in Chifley in the early hours of Saturday morning when a Mazda 323 crashed into a parked van.

A man has died after crashing his vehicle in Australia on Saturday night. James Gallagher, 22, who was working as a construction worker in Sydney, crashed his utility vehicle into a safety barrier and then a tree after leaving the road. The vehicle also contained the man's brother who escaped with a broken arm.

A 21-year-old Irishman is in a critical condition in hospital after he was stabbed in Perth, Australia. The Department of Foreign Affairs is providing consular assistance. Media in Australia reported that a man was stabbed in the neck during an argument in the Scarborough area. A man has been charged in connection with the incident.

Another Irishman is in hospital with serious head injuries after being seriously assaulted during a night out in Sydney's east. The 29-year-old Irish national has become the third Irishman in two years to be hospitalised from assaults by locals in the Coogee area.
