SF Welcome €260k For Tech Apprenticeships
A Sinn Fein TD has welcomed the announcement that Carlow IT is set to receive €260,000 to help it deliver apprenticeship programmes.
The Institute of Technology will deliver the schemes in the areas of electrical and carpentry apprenticeships.
Deputy Kathleen Funchion welcomed the news, saying: "Investment into apprenticeships schemes is seriously needed particularly in rural regions. This funding provided by the Department of Education and Skills through the Higher Education Authority (HEA) should be the start of ongoing increased investment into areas of training and upskilling in trades for our community.
"Students who begin the Leaving Certificate this week should know that these options are out there and that apprenticeships can offer significant career options if the experience and training is of a decent standard.
"This particular funding for Carlow IT will support the roll-out of new syllabi for apprenticeships in carpentry and electrical training. I would encourage students in Carlow to explore these new apprenticeship opportunities."
