Gardaí Warn Of Revenue Phishing Scam

Gardaí are advising the public to take caution amid reports of a 'revenue refund' phishing scam.

A text message offering a refund, gained by clicking a hyperlink which leads to a fraudulent website, has been circulating in recent days.

The unsolicited text message comes with the sender details displayed as 'REVENUE'. When the receiver clicks the embedded link, they are brought to what appears to be a legitimate ROS website which requests personal details such as your name, date of birth and bank details.

The website is said to be well made with all associated colours and images used.

A Gardaí spokesperson said: "An Garda Síochána would advise that you DO NOT click the hyperlink and delete this message from your phone."
