Ministers Congratulate U19 Team On 2019 U19 UEFA European Championships
Ireland's U19 soccer team have been congratulated for their performance at the 2019 U19 UEFA European Championships in Armenia.
The Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross, said: "I am delighted to congratulate the Ireland Under-19s on performing so well at the 2019 UEFA U19 European Championships in Armenia. It was a great achievement to qualify for the tournament and to succeed in reaching the semi-finals for such a young side was an amazing journey for them. Well done to Tom Mohan, his support staff and all the players on this magnificent performance."
Minister with responsibility for Sport, Brendan Griffin, added: "I would like to congratulate the Republic of Ireland U19 soccer team on their valiant effort at the 2019 U19 European Championships, going out to the reigning champions Portugal in the semi-finals. This was a great achievement considering that the team was missing so many of its regular players. I am sure all of the players will have enjoyed and learnt so much from this wonderful experience. Their performance will cause many to be highly optimistic for the future of Irish soccer."

Unemployment Falls Almost 6% In The Year To June 2019
Ireland's unemployment rate remained unchanged in the month to June 2019, but is almost 6% lower than in June 2018. According to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO), the seasonally adjusted number of persons unemployed was 109,700 in June 2019 compared to 109,400 in May 2019.

Passengers Escape Bus Fire In Co Cork
A number of children have escaped injury after the bus transporting them to the National Ploughing Championships caught fire. Gardaí say that a "small fire" broke out in the engine of the bus at around 7am on Wednesday morning just outside Ballyvourney, Co Cork. The driver and all passengers managed to get on the bus without injury.

National Ploughing Championships Opens
The National Ploughing Championships opens today in Co Offaly. The event, one of Europe's biggest agricultural shows, will be held on the 500-acre site at Annaharvey farm near Tullamore. It is anticipated that the three-day event will attract up to 150,000 spectators from all over the country.
