Irishman Arrested Boarding Flight After Sydney Crash
An Irishman has been arrested boarding a flight from Australia following a crash in Sydney.
The 22-year-old, who is understood to be from County Donegal, was detained at Sydney Airport on Monday.
The crash is believed to have taken place in Chifley in the early hours of Saturday morning when a Mazda 323 crashed into a parked van.
CCTV footage appeared to show the driver fleeing the scene on foot, while a passenger also fled a short time later.
Emergency services attended to free two others from the wreckage, one of whom, a 25-year-old, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains in stable condition. The other man, aged 27, was also taken to hospital and is believed to be in serious but stable condition.
New South Wales police arrested the alleged driver on board a flight to Dublin, while the search continues for another individual who was seen leaving the scene.

Sinn Féin has hit out at the government over the homeless crisis in Ireland. Deputy Michael Colreavy, Sinn Féin TD for Sligo/North Leitrim, said the government cannot just put a "band aid" over the issue and is calling for a initiative to be introduced to attempt to fix the ongoing problem.

He worked as a tradesman and lived in the Wentworthville area of the city. The Irish consulate in Sydney is offering consular assistance to the victim's family.

James Gallagher, 22, who was working as a construction worker in Sydney, crashed his utility vehicle into a safety barrier and then a tree after leaving the road. The vehicle also contained the man's brother who escaped with a broken arm.
