Garda Launch 'Open City' Traffic Operation
A Garda operation to ease the flow of public transport in cities and minimise traffic disruption in the run up to Christmas has launched.
Operation Open City will run in Limerick, Cork and Dublin until Christmas Eve, with extra officers deployed to boost visibility and enforcement.
Gardaí will patrol major arterial routes and link roads during core commuter hours. There will also be particular focus on traffic management issues around car parks at major shopping areas.
The operation will run alongside the Christmas Road Safety Enforcement Campaign to reduce road fatalities and help keep people safe.

Irish Road Deaths Increase
This year has seen a rise in the amount of people dying on Irish roads, with the number as of 12 September totalling 132 people; an increase of 13 on the same period last year. 66 drivers lost their lives on our roads, the largest of any road user category. 14 of those drivers were between the ages of 21-25, the highest of any driver age group.

Toll Prices Dropped At Port Tunnel
Toll prices at Dublin Port Tunnel are to drop to a minimum of €3 from January 1. The National Roads Authority (NRA) has announced that it is scrapping the current three-tier pricing system and replacing it with a two-tier system.

Bridge Fails To Navigate Troubled Water
Bad weather has held back plans to bring the Samuel Beckett Bridge on the latest stage of its journey. The advanced Bridge, which will span the Liffey will now be delayed after an abandoned attempt to ferry the Bridge to its mount at 2am this morning because of high winds. A fresh attempt will be made at high tide tomorrow morning.

Samuel Beckett Bridge Arrives In Dublin
The River Liffey's new bridge is to arrive in Dublin Port after its week-long journey from the Netherlands. The new bridge, which is due to be operational next year will link from Guild Street on the north quays to Sir John Rogerson's Quay on the south.

Talks Aim To Resolve Air Traffic Control Dispute
Fresh talks to resolve a dispute between air traffic controllers and the Irish Aviation Authority are due to recommence today. The two sides, which met for talks at the Labour Relations Commission last week, will be holding face-to-face discussions over the coming days in an effort to resolve the dispute by Friday.
