Man Charged Over 2018 Shop Burglary
A man facing charges relating to the burglary of a shop in Limerick in May 2018 was due in court this morning, Thursday 16 January.
Gardaí arrested the suspect, aged in his 30s, following the incident in Cloonreask, Askeaton, Co Limerick on 03 May 2018.
A safe was removed from the business premises by suspects during the burglary. Gardaí later located it outside the building with its contents still inside.
A car with false registration plates that had been involved in a single vehicle collision was located a short time later between Adare and Croom. This car had been stolen from the UK in 2018.
An investigation was carried out by detective Gardaí in Newcastle West and a man in his 30s was arrested yesterday, 15 January, 2020. He was detained at Newcastle West Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1994 and has since been charged to appear before Newcastle West District Court this morning, 16 January at 10.30am.

An additional €646 million in current expenditure is being allocated to Health in Budget 2018.

Three Arrested Over Cork Murder Released
Three men who were arrested as part of a Gardaí investigation into the murder of Mikolaj Wilk in Cork have been released. The trio were detained on the morning of Tuesday 22 January in Ballincollig following a number of searches in the area, but have since been released without charge.

CSO Publishes 2018 Crime Detection Figures
The Central Statistics Office (CSO) has published crime detection figures for the first time in four years. The figures are relating to 2018, with detection rates for murder incidents at 72%. Detection of controlled drug offences represent a high of 85%, while sexual offence detection remained low at just 11%.
