€280,000 Discovered In Freight Trailer

Revenue have been granted a three month cash detention order at Gorey District Court following the seizure of more than €280,000 from an unaccompanied freight trailer at Rosslare Europort.

The search, with the assistance of Revenue's mobile x-ray scanner and detector dog Flynn, led to the discovery of cash in the floor of the freight trailer.

The cash is suspected to be the proceeds of, or intended for use in, criminal activity and was detained by Revenue in accordance with proceeds of crime legislation. Investigations are ongoing.

Over 234,000 Cigarettes Seized At Dublin Airport
Revenue officers using routine profiling have seized over 234,000 cigarettes at Dublin Airport. The cigarettes branded 'Benson & Hedges' were found concealed in 17 boxes described as 'metal transistors'. They had arrived via Amsterdam on a flight from China.

584,000 Cigarettes Seized At Dublin Port
An intelligence-led revenue operation at Dublin Port has saw 584,000 illegal cigarettes taken out of circulation. Officers discovered the unstamped cigarettes with the assistance of an X-ray scanner on Friday 02 August. They were located in a shipment from Rotterdam that originated in China.
