Increase In Overseas Visitors In January - CSO

The number of overseas visitors to Ireland rose by half a percent in January, totalling 654,500 trips, according to the latest information from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

Trips by residents of Great Britain increased by 0.1% to 266,900 while trips by residents of European Countries other than Great Britain (Other Europe) increased by 0.2% to 232,000. Trips by residents of USA and Canada to Ireland increased by 2.9% to 108,400 while trips to Ireland from Other Areas decreased by 1.0% to 47,200.

Irish residents made 548,500 overseas trips in January 2020, an increase of 2.2% compared to one year earlier.

The total number of trips (Irish residents' trips overseas plus trips to Ireland) in January 2020 increased by 1.2% to 1,203,000 when compared to twelve months earlier.

Increase In Overseas Visitors To Ireland
The number of people visiting Ireland from overseas has increased by more than 70,000 over the past year, the latest figures from the Central Statistic Office have revealed. There were 569,300 overseas trips to Ireland last November, compared to 497,500 in the same month the previous year.
