Irish Teen Killed In Lanzarote

Spanish police are investigating the suspicious death of an Irish citizen this morning in the Canary Islands.

Police are investigating the death of the teenager on the island of Lanzarote and they are looking for two men.

The incident in the town of Puerto del Carmen is believed to have taken place after a traffic incident led to a row at around 5.30am.

It is reported that the teenage victim was attacked with an iron bar.

Pensioner Dies After Falling Into A Fireplace
A pensioner has died after falling in to a fireplace which was lit. The incident took place at a house in Ballina just before 10.30pm. It is believed the 92-year-old woman did not die of fire-related injuries. Gardai are currently investigating, however they are not treating the death as suspicious.

Derry Barracks Blasted Overnight
A bomb blast has devastated the area round a Londonderry police station. The PSNI said two men, one armed with a gun, hijacked a taxi driver shortly before 3am this morning and that the bomb was loaded into his car after which he was forced to drive to the police station.

Garda Investigating Infant's Death In 1970s Searching Property In South Dublin
Gardaí have begun a search of a house in south Dublin in connection with an investigation into the death of a new born infant in the 1970s. It is understood that officers investigating the case executed a search warrant on Thursday evening. Garda said expect the search to last two to three weeks.

Ten Teenagers Arrested Over Robberies And Assaults
Gardaí investigating a number of robberies and assaults in Dublin have arrested ten teenagers, aged 14 to 19. A series of raids were carried out in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Dublin and Louth by officers investigating robberies and assaults carried out in the Dublin area over the summer.

Second Bomb Scare Hits North
The police and Army bomb experts were this afternoon investigating reports of a suspect device in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim after an object was discovered on the Reahill Road on Thursday at 12.30pm. The road was closed and a police spokewoman said they were dealing with a "possible pipe bomb".
