Investigation Begins Into Wicklow Helicopter Crash

A helicopter carrying two people had to make a crash-landing yesterday evening in County Wicklow.

An investigation has now been launched into the crash-landing outside Newtownmountkennedy and the helicopter is understood to have been a British-registered helicopter.

Both the pilot and a passenger escaped injury but the helicopter was completely destroyed by the fire.

Gardai have sealed off the area to allow the Department of Transport’s Air Accident Investiagation Unit to begin their investigation.

Garda Ombudsman Begins Investigation Following Man's Death
The Garda Ombudsman Commission is investigating the death of a man in Drogheda. The man, who was anted by gardai, is believed to have taken his own life. Neighbours in the North Quay area said they heard several bangs between 5am and 7am this morning. A post mortem is due to be carried out today.

River Searches Carried Out For Missing Man
Garda sub aqua divers and members of Kilkenny river rescue have carried out a search of the River Nore in Co Kilkenny for a 33-year-old man. It is understood that the man was walking along the river bank with a group of friends at about 01:30 on Sunday morning when he entered the water.

Coast Guard Launch New 'Flying Ambulance' Helicopters
Ireland Coast Guard's have launched their new fleet of "flying ambulances". The last of the new fleet of Sikorsky S92 helicopters was launched on Monday morning at Weston Airport.

Crewman Airlifted From Fishing Boat
A crewman who sustained injuries onboard a French fishing vessel has been airlifted to hospital. The Shannon-based Irish Coast Guard helicopter rendezvoused with the fishing vessel around 240km off the south west coast yesterday night. It is understood that the man sustained serious injuries following an accident onboard the vessel.

Body Exhumed In Search For Missing Man
Gardaí investigating the disappearance of a man in 1987 have exhumed a body after a tip off. Brian McGrath, aged then 43, was last seen in 1987. Early on Monday morning Gardai exhumed remains at Whitehall Cemetery, Coole, Co Westmeath to be taken to Dublin City Morgue for additional post mortem examination and further tests.
