Prehistoric Monument To Be Demolished

The excavation of a prehistoric site in County Meath is due to begin today to make way for the M3 motorway.

The motorway will be constructed on the Lismullen site, despite it being declared a national monument in May.

The Tara monument is to be demolished and preserved ‘by record’ so that the motorway can be built, but opponents of the project are staging a demonstration this morning.

Laura Grealish from the group TaraWatch said that the Minister for the Environment, John Gormley, still had options available to him.
