Reward Offered In Search For Serial Attacker

Gardai have offered a 10,000 euro reward for information about a serial sex attacker who may be responsible for attacks on women in the Carlow and Cavan areas.

Detectives believe that one man is responsible for 15 assaults and attempted assaults in both counties over the past two years.

The attacks all took place in public places as the women walked alone or in victims' homes when the attacker posed as a tradesman.

The attacker is described as Irish, in his 20s, with black or brown hair and of slim build. He wears a small gold ring in his left ear at times and also wears a wedding band.

Crimestoppers have put up the reward for information about the attacker.

€10,000 Reward Offered For Athlone Serial Attacker
A reward of €10,000 has been offered in a bid to catch the man who is believed to be behind three recent attacks on women in Athlone. Three women have been attacked in the area in the past eight weeks at Bonavalley Bridge in Athlone, near the Institute of Technology. The latest attack happened between 10pm and 11pm on Wednesday night.

Man Struck 40 Times With Crowbar
A Polish man is recovering in hospital after a savage beating by a robber armed with a crowbar. The attack took place in the seaside town of Bray and saw Krystosf Zietkiewicz, 48, left in agony after receiving multiple fractures from the frenzied robber who attacked him as he walked home.

Two Cork Men Jailed Over Two Attacks On Women
Two men have been jailed for a total of 19 years for a sexual assault on one woman and the robbery of another on the same night in Cork city. Colin O’Sullivan, 20, of Highfield Crescent, Kanturk, and Adam Heneghan, 19, or Upper Dromore, Dromahane, were sentenced to 10 years and 9 years respectively, for the two attacks.

The Minister for Energy, Alex White, is in Paris to attend a ministerial meeting of the International Energy Agency. It is understood the French government decided to proceed with the international meeting despite the terrorist attacks across the city on Friday.
