Laois Murder Investigation: One Arrested
A woman has been arrested in connection with the murder of Co. Laois man Patrick Burke earlier this month.
Mr Burke was found dead in a downstairs bedroom in his home in Ballybrittas shortly before 11pm on August 19 after Gardaí were called to the house.
A post-mortem examination revealed that he died from multiple blows to the head.
A 54-year-old woman was arrested in the Portlaoise area on Tuesday morning.

DCC Extend Deadline For 1916 Event Fund
Dublin City Council has extended the deadline for community groups and organisations to apply funding for community based activities to mark the 1916 centenary. The recently announced €150,000 1916 Rising Commemoration Fund for Communities has been extended to 29 May, 2015.

Council Blocks Flat Refurbishment Proposal
A proposed refurbishment of Dublin city flats to house homeless families has been blocked by Dublin City Councillors. It is understood the council decided that while emergency housing was needed for the increasing number of homeless families, refurbishing units already marked for demolition "was the wrong solution".

Fresh Contractor Sought For Shannon Housing
Clare County Council confirmed its decision to terminate a contract with Paddy Burke Builders Limited for the completion of the Glaise na Rinne Affordable Housing Scheme in Shannon. The contract with Paddy Burke Builders Ltd., worth in excess of €3m, commenced in August 2009. The scheme comprises 16 affordable units and six step down units.
