Two Men Charged Over Cork Murder

A second man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Cork man Brian McKee at the weekend.

Mr McKee, a father-of-two from Ballinure Avenue in Mahon, was found unconscious at St Michael's Road in the early hours of Saturday morning.

He had suffered multiple stab wounds to the chest. He was taken to hospital but later died.

John Brett, 24, from Leitrim Street in Cork, was charged with assault causing harm on Monday night.

He appeared before a special sitting of Cork District Court on Monday night and was remanded to reappear before the same court on September 3.

Earlier on Monday, Jason Quinlan, 27, from Loughmahon Drive in Mahon, appeared before Cork District Court, also charged with assault causing harm.

He was also remanded in custody until September 3.

Application for free legal aid were granted in both cases.

Man Charged With West Cork Arson Attacks
A man has been charged with a series of arson attacks in Skibbereen, west Cork. 30-year-old Sean Byrne, of Bohernabreegha, Drimoleague, appeared at Clonakilty District Court accused of six separate arson attacks at a number of locations in Skibbereen.

A west Cork man reported missing on Monday night has been found "safe and well". Bantry Gardaí launched a search operation, assisted by the Coast Guard Helicopter and local coast guard units.

Man Charged With Theft And Fraud Offences In Cork
A 45-year-old man has appeared in court charged in connection with a number of theft and fraud offences in Cork City. An investigation began in 2014 after Gardaí received a complaint against the suspect. The man was originally arrested on 10 December 2015 regarding offences under the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act, 2001.
