Minister O'Dea Denies Pub Fight Claims
The Minister for Defence, Willie O'Dea, has denied claims that he verbally abused two customers and offered to fight a man in a Limerick pub after a disagreement with Shannon Airport campaigners.
John Fahey, Chief Executive of the Meet Limerick/Shannon conferencing promotion group, and Geraldine Morrissey, a spokeswoman for Aer Lingus workers made the claims against the Minister.
They allege they were approached by Mr O'Dea and when they asked him why he failed to defend Shannon in the Dáil last week, he retorted with foul language.
Speaking to RTE, Mr O'Dea admitted he may have been "dismissive" to the pair and told them to "sod off" or "get lost" after being approached by them.
He denies the suggestion that he invited Mr Fahey to a fistfight, saying it would have been foolish to go outside with a 6ft 5in man.
