Fire At Galway Tyre Depot

A fire broke out at a tyre depot in Galway city on Thursday evening.

Six units of the local fire brigade were called to tackle the blaze, which broke out at the depot on the Ballybane Industrial Estate around 7pm.

A 15-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the fire, but he has since been released without charge.

Traffic in the area was severely disrupted by thick smoke following the fire. Two people were injured in a collision between a car and a motorbike near the scene of the fire. Both are reported to be in a serious, but stable, condition.

Mountjoy Prison Cell Fire
A fire broke out in a cell at Dublin's Mountjoy Prison on Thursday night, according to reports. It is understood that a prisoner had set fire to a cell. However, it is believed that prison staff and fire crews were able to contain the fire quickly. No-one was injured in the incident.

Woman Dies In Limerick House Fire
A woman has died in a house fire in Limerick. The fire broke out at the house in Daly Avenue at around midnight. The woman, aged 47, was the only person in the property. She was taken to University Hospital Limerick where she was pronounced dead. Gardai are not treating the incident as suspicious.

Recycling Plant Fire Closes Parcel Depot
The fire at a Dublin recycling plant has forced the temporary closure of An Post parcel depot at Merrywell Business Park. Parcel deliveries across the country will be delayed as the result of the fire at the Oxigen recycling plant, which has been burning now for four days.
