Child Dies In Freak Golf Club Accident

A six-year-old girl has died after being accidentally struck on the head with a golf club while playing with a group of children in Nenagh, Co Tipperary.

The incident happened while the girl was playing with other children in the Carrigrua estate on Sunday. A seven-year-old boy accidentally struck her on the head with the golf club.

The girl was taken to Nenagh Hospital, before being transferred to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick, where she treated for serious head injuries and never regained consciousness, dying on Monday night.

Gardaí said that the girl's death was being treated as a tragic accident.

Lurgan Golf Club Fire Suspected 'Arson'
Lurgan Golf Club in County Armagh has been severely damaged in a fire that police are treating as suspected arson. The fire was reported at 10.45pm on Monday and caused structural damage to the building that includes a bar and a restaurant. The area was cordoned off, as the building close to Lurgan Park contained gas cylinders.

Gardaí Appeal For Information On Fatal Road Crash In Co Westmeath
Gardaí have appealed for information on a fatal road traffic accident near Mullingar, Co Westmeath on Saturday morning. Three women and a ten-year-old girl died when a car and an SUV collided near Portnashangan, just north of Mullingar on the main N4 Dublin to Sligo road at about 07:30am on Saturday.

Teenage Girl Missing From Dublin
Gardaí have appealed for help locating a teenage girl missing from her Dublin home. 17-year-old Donna Maughan is missing from the Blanchardstown area.
