Gangland Gun Victim Had Been Warned

The man shot dead in north Dublin overnight had received warnings his life was on the line.

Well-known criminal John Daly was shot several times while sitting in the passenger seat of a taxi as he travelled home from a night out with friends.

Gardai say the gangland-style attack appeared to be well-organised.

The 27-year-old victim was released from Portlaoise prison this summer after serving a sentence for armed robbery.

He hit the headlines earlier this year when he used a smuggled mobile phone to call a radio station and speak to Joe Duffy's Liveline from his prison cell.
