Aer Lingus Increases Fuel Surcharge

Aer Lingus has announced plans to increase its long haul fuel surcharge as a result of the rising cost of oil.

The fuel surcharge on flights to/from Ireland to New York, Boston and Washington will rise to €50/US$70/£35 per sector, on flights to/from Chicago, Orlando and Dubai will rise to €55/US$77/£40/AED300 per sector while flights to/from Ireland to Los Angeles and San Francisco to €65/US$91/£45 per sector.

Commenting on the announcement, Aer Lingus' Commercial Director Enda Corneille said: "The oil price continues to be extremely volatile and in recent weeks there has been a significant upward trend in the cost of fuel.

"We said last May that we would keep our surcharge under review to reflect changes in the price of fuel, and this decision to increase the charge is consistent with that strategy.

"We remain committed to reviewing levels of our surcharge in line with current market trends."

The increases will apply from November 1st.
