Delay For McGrath Trial

The trial of Fianna Fáil TD Matty McGrath and five co-defendants has been delayed until the beginning of the next session of the Circuit Court in Clonmel.

The charges relate to a disturbance outside a bar in Newcastle, Co. Tipperary, where Mr McGrath lives, on August 14 last year.

Mr McGrath, who was elected as a TD for Tipperary South in the General Election last May, has pleaded not guilty to charges of assault, causing harm, and with using or threatening to use unlawful violence.

The trial has now been put back until the beginning of the new court session in February.
