Cost Of TV Licence Jumps
From this January, the cost of a television licence is to go up by €2.
Even before next month's 2008 Budget is revealed, news has emerged that from January 1, 2008 a TV licence will cost €160.
It is estimated that this will increase licence revenues to RTÉ by about €2.8m.
The Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Eamon Ryan said the “modest” increase would allow RTÉ to continue to strengthen the public service schedules it delivers in increasingly competitive television and radio markets.
