Aer Lingus Strike Off
This week's planned industrial action at Aer Lingus is off.
Up to 30,000 air passengers - including many from Northern Ireland travelling through Dublin to the European Cup qualifier match with Spain in Grand Canaria - can now breathe a sigh of relief as the latest dispute at the Irish 'flag-carrier' airline moves closer to a resolution.
SIPTU shop stewards met in Dublin Airport at the weekend and agreed to accept proposals from the National Implementation Body.
Their planned two-day work stoppage for next week has therefore been called off by the Union.
Both Aer Lingus management and unions will now engage in two weeks of intensive talks.
The discussions will attempt to bring an end the row centring on the airline's 20 million euro cost-cutting measures.
