Dublin Bus Drivers Return To Work
Drivers at Dublin Bus' Harristown Depot returned to work on Monday morning after voting in favour of recommendations made by the Labour Court in a dispute which has caused travel disruption for bus passengers over the past week.
Two new routes - the 4A from Ballymun to Blackrock and the 128 from Clongriffin to Rathmines - at the centre of the dispute have also begun operating. The new routes had sparked the dispute with drivers expressing concerns that drivers on the new routes would have to start and finish their shifts, as well as take their breaks, in the city centre, rather than at the depot.
Local shop stewards will now monitor the new routes, under the new agreement.
Union bosses from SIPTU and the NBRU have apologised to passengers for last week's disruption to services, as have Dublin Bus.
Around 60,000 passengers were affected by last week's dispute.
In separate news, a new private bus service between Swords and Dublin city centre was due to begin operating today.
The service will use the Dublin Port Tunnel, and operators say that the journey will take 35 minutes. The service costs three euros or two euros for under-sixteens.
