Lough Body Probed

The Gardaí has launched an investigation following the discovery of a badly decomposed body in a lake in Co. Clare yesterday.

A local fisherman on Lough Brigid spotted the body which was later recovered by the Gardaí Water Unit and taken to Limerick Regional Hospital.

It is understood that the remains, which include a skull and torso, were in advanced stages of decomposition and it is thought that they had been in the water for some time. They are also believed to be those of a young person and it is understood that some items of clothing were also found in the lake.

The gender of the body has not yet been determined.

The scene has been preserved and searches are due to take place again today.
