'Cocaine' Found On Plane At Shannon Airport
An investigation has been launched after a quantity of drugs, believed to be cocaine, was found onboard a plane at Shannon Airport on Wednesday.
According to reports, the discovery was made in an overhead luggage compartment as routine maintenance was carried out on the plane.
Customs officials seized a package, which contained a kilo of what is believed to be cocaine, with an estimated street value of around €70,000.
The plane is believed to have arrived from Amsterdam for a maintenance check.
The staff who discovered the package are being interviewed.

Dublin airport's main runway is still closed after the nose-wheel of a small plane collapsed. The incident occurred at around 8.40am. The crew on-board the Metroliner craft were not injured in the incident and the plane has not been removed from the runway.

Pilot Rescued After Ditching Plane Off Wexford Coast
A lucky pilot has been rescued after his plane crashed into the sea off Co Wexford. The light aircraft, which is believed to have been flown from England, went down shortly before 5pm yesterday. The pilot was also believed to have been spotted standing on the wing of the submerged, but still floating, two-man plane by coincidence.

An anti-war protestor who allegedly attacked a US military plane at Shannon Airport five years ago has been prevented from entering the United States. Offaly man Damien Moran says his identity was flagged in a database as soon as he arrived in the country over the weekend and he was subsequently deported by homeland security.

A report from the Air Accident Investigation Unit (AAIU) has revealed last year's fatal plane crash at Cork Airport identified a problem with a sensor. The crash, which claimed the lives of six people, found a "mismatch in the torque being delivered from each of the two engines".
