Searches Resume For Missing Men

Search operations are continuing in Longford, Tipperary and Clare for three men who are still missing after falling into swollen rivers at the weekend.

In the first incident, a man in his 40s, fell into the River Suir in Cahir on Saturday night.

It is believed that he lost his footing crossing a bridge, while walking home around 10pm.

The search had to be abandoned on Sunday because of bad weather.

Meanwhile, another search is continuing in Longford, for a man in his 70s who was reportedly last seen near the River Camlin in the town on Saturday. The search was called off last night due to failing light and resumed this morning.

Efforts to find 21-year-old Dermot Molloy, who fell into the River Fergus in Co. Clare in the early hours of Sunday morning, have also proved unsuccessful so far.

Mr Molloy, from the Cahercalla Estate in Ennis, fell from the Club Bridge around 2:20am on Sunday following a night out.

Immediate attempts to rescue him were unsuccessful and he disappeared from view. A search on Sunday also proved unsuccessful.
