Roads Claim Three Further Victims

It will be a sad Christmas for more families this year as the roads have claimed another three victims.

Two men and a teenager have been killed in separate road crashes in Wexford, Kerry and Louth.

The accidents were this morning, with one involving a motorcyclist who was killed following an accident at Ballymitty in Co Wexford.

It is believed the accident happened at around 8am when the unnamed motorcyclist was in collision with a car.

Meanwhile, a man in his 50s - who has not yet been identified - has been killed in a two-car collision in Co Kerry. The crash happened shortly after 8am at Ardtully in Kilgarvan.

As a result, the Kenmare to Kilgarvan Road has since been closed.

Also, a teenager has died in hospital from injuries he sustained in a crash in Dunleer, Co Louth, last night.

The victim has been named as 19-year-old Mark King, from Ballygowan in Ardee.

Hit-And-Run Accused Released
A man (33) has been released after being arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Co Wicklow yesterday evening. An elderly woman, (79) was killed when she was hit by a vehicle in Killeager, the Scalp, near Enniskerry. A file has been sent by gardaí to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Weekend Road Crashes Claim More Lives
More lives have been lost in carnage on Irish roads over the weekend. On Friday, a 19-year-old man died in a collision at Monasteroais in Edenderry in Co. Offaly. The man was a passenger in a car, which collided with a pillar, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

NRA Call For Introduction Of Additional Tolls On M50
The National Roads Authority (NRA) has called for the introduction of more tolls on the M50 in an effort to address gridlock on the countries busiest road. The NRA said that "effective measures" were needed to address congestion on the M50, and that traffic control decisions needed to be "taken now".
