Firefighters Hose Down Sword Attacker

A man has been arrested after reportedly attempting to attack firefighters with a sword in Dundalk, Co. Louth.

It is understood that the attack happened in Marion Road as firefighters attempted to put out a fire in a car around 1.50am on Friday.

It is believed that a man appeared from the crowd that had gathered nearby and then ran towards the firefighters, brandishing what appeared to be a samurai sword.

The firefighters were forced to turn their hose on the man in order to defend themselves. The man was then later arrested and taken to Drogheda garda station.
