Crash Motorist Critical, Others Serious

There are two people fighting for their lives in hospital this morning following separate road accidents in Co Laois and Co Galway yesterday.

A man is in a critical condition following a collision between a car and a truck on the N8 at Clonad in Co Laois, which also left three other people needing hospital treatment.

In Co Galway, meanwhile, a 29-year-old woman was seriously injured when the car she was driving left the road near Tuam.

Meanwhile, in Northern Ireland, six people including two children, aged 11 and 14, have been injured in a two-car collision in County Antrim.

It happened on Sunday afternoon on the Creagh Road in Toomebridge.

They were taken to Antrim Area Hospital where two of the six were described as having serious injuries.

Today, three people remain in hospital. One is in a serious condition and two are said to be satisfactory. The children have since been discharged.

Earlier on Sunday, another man was injured in another two car collision in the border county of Fermanagh.

It took place on the Derrylin Road between Enniskillen and Bellanaleck.

Series Of Serious Road Incidents Over Weekend
Gardai are investigating a series of serious road accidents on Ireland's roads over the weekend. The collisions have left three dead and one injured. The most recent incident, a traffic collision in Co Louth, has left a motorcyclist dead when his bike left the road at 2.30 a.m. on Sunday night at Killany, Louth.

Man Assaulted By Gang In Drogheda
An investigation has been launched following an assault in Drogheda, Co Louth. Gardaí have issued an appeal for information after a man in his late 20s was assaulted by four men in Moneymore in an incident at about 10.30pm last night, Monday 29 April.

One Dead in Limerick Road Collision
A man was killed in a road crash in Co. Limerick on Monday evening. The incident, which involved two cars, happened at Beary's Cross on the N24. Three people were reported to have been taken to the Mid Western Regional Hospital following the crash. One man is reported to have suffered serious injuries.

Teen Injured In Dublin Accident
A 16-year-old boy has been seriously injured after being hit by a truck in O'Connell Street in Dublin on Monday morning. It is understood that the teenager was struck after the truck mounted the central median near the Spire around 8.20am. He has been taken to the Mater Hospital, suffering from serious injuries.
