Louth Stab Victim 'Serious' As Limerick Shooting Probed

The gardaí are today investigating a gun attack on a house in Limerick and a serious stabbing in Co Louth.

Two shots were fired at the front window of the Limerick property in the Greenhills Road, Garryowen, at around 11pm yesterday.

A Garda spokesman said no injuries were sustained in the incident and it is believed the house was unoccupied. Gardaí from Henry Street station are investigating.

Meanwhile, a 27-year-old man is recovering in hospital following a stabbing incident in Drogheda, Co Louth, last night.

Police say the victim is lucky to be alive as the knife narrowly missed his jugular vein.

He is being treated for serious neck injuries at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

Two men aged 31 and 39 are being held in connection with the stabbing, which happened in a flat in the Shop Street area at around 10.30pm.

Investigation Launched Following Bone Discovery In Co Clare
An investigation has been launched following the discovery of a bone in Co Clare. A bone was found on Thursday, 22 September, on the Shannon riverbank at Doonass, Clonlara, on the Clare-Limerick border. Gardaí were called to the scene and are understood to have examined and photographed the scene before the bone was removed.

Man Dies In Limerick Collision
A man has died in a crash in Co Limerick. The car veered off the road and hit a ditch at Dromsallagh at around 4.15am on Sunday, 05 June. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. A second man is currently being treated for his injuries at the University Hospital Limerick. The road has been re-opened.

Man Dies In Tipperary Collision
A man, aged in his 70s, has died in a collision in Tipperary. He was killed after the car he was driving collided with another car in Borrisokane on Sunday, 05 June, at around 5.15pm. The woman in the other car sustained serious injuries and is currently being treated at Limerick University Hospital.

Body Confirmed As Missing Galway Man
Gardaí have confirmed they have found the body of missing Galway man Adrian Folan. Mr Folan had been missing since last Thursday, when he was last seen in Athlone. Gardaí say that a body found in a disused quarry near the village of Liscannor in north Clare is that of Mr Folan, and that the death is being treated as suspicious.
