Man Seriously Ill Following Limerick Attack

A Polish man remains seriously ill in hospital in Cork University Hospital after being attacked and set alight in Limerick in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The 35-year-old was attacked in the Russell Road/Dock Road area of Dooradoyle around 2am.

It is understood that a group threw flammable liquid over the Polish national and set him alight, causing serious burns to his face and hand.

Gardaí have appealed for information and are hoping to interview the victim once his condition improves.

They are also trying to establish a motive for the assault and if the victim knew his attackers.

Man Seriously Injured In Dublin Shooting
A man is being treated in hospital after receiving serious injures in a shooting attack in Cabra, Dublin. The incident happened on the Killala Road at around 7.30pm on Sunday. Garda Appeal For Information After Man Found Seriously Injured
An investigation has been launched after a man was found seriously injured in Dublin on Thursday night. Gardaí have said that the man, who is in his mid-40s, was found at around 21:25 on Tyrconnell Road in Inchicore, Dublin 8. He is being treated at St James Hospital and his condition is described as critical.

Man Killed In Co Leitrim Crash
A man has been killed in a road collision in Co. Leitrim. The crash, which involved two cars, happened on the N4 at Carrick-on-Shannon around 8:10am on Tuesday morning. It is understood that the man who died was the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the collision.

Man Injured In Dublin Attack
A man has been injured in a serious attack in Dublin. It happened in Kearn's Place at around 2am this morning. The victim, believed to be in his 30s, was slashed across the face. He is currently at St James's Hospital, where his injuries are being described as "superficial".

Polish Man Charged Over Fatal Limerick Assault
A 21-year-old man is due to appear in court on Thursday, charged in connection with the assault of a man in Limerick. Stanislaw Stokowski, who is originally from Poland, but lives in Lord Edward Street in Limerick, has been charged with assaulting Matheusz Sabik, another Polish man, on Little Ellen Street in the city on September 30.
