Deadly Road Toll Rises
Road crashes have again claimed lives with news that two people died in separate road accidents in Co Kildare and Co Tipperary.
A 51-year-old man died in hospital in the early hours of this morning after he was knocked down and fatally injured by a car in Carbury, Co Kildare, at around 8.30pm last night.
The road where the accident occurred was closed to traffic until around after midday today.
Meanwhile, in Co Tipperary, one person has been confirmed dead after a multi-vehicle pile-up on the N62 between Roscrea and Templemore.
Several others were injured in the crash, which involved two trucks and seven cars.
Gardaí say the road is likely to remain closed for most of the day.

Man Dies In Overnight Road Crash
A man has died when his car collided with a van on the Rathbeale road in Swords, Dublin, around 02.30am on Wednesday morning. The man in his 40s was a passenger in the van. He died at the scene. The driver of the van and a second passenger are being treated in hospital. Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to two fatal road accidents in Co Limerick and Co Donegal. On Sunday, 12 July, a 21-year-old man was killed when a car collided with a bollard in Burnfoot, Burncrana. The 18-year-old driver and another 21-year-old passenger were injured and are being treated in hospital.
