Man Arrested After Attempted Robbery In Dublin
A man in his thirties has been arrested following an attempted robbery at a house in west Dublin on Monday night.
Gardaí said that two men had broken into a house at Virginia Heights in Blessington Road in Tallaght.
The men, who were both armed, threatened the occupants of the house - a couple and their two adult sons - and demanded money. However, they fled the scene empty-handed, after firing a number of shots. No injuries were reported.
One man was arrested near the scene and a handgun and shotgun were recovered, along with a balaclava and some items of clothing.
The second man escaped from the scene.

A 44-year-old man died in the blaze which happened at a property on Oakland's Terrace, Rathgar, at around 3am on Tuesday, 21 August. It is understood the man had escaped from the fire before returning inside and suffered critical injuries.

The three men, one of them armed with a handgun, forced their way into a parochial house in Armagh locking two people into the bathroom while they searched the building for money. The men then fled from the scene upon the arrival of police.

Man Arrested Over House Fire In Co Kildare
A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a house fire in Newbridge, County Kildare. Gardaí and the fire service attended the scene at Millford Manor estate at around 4pm on Tuesday. A number of houses had to be evacuated and six properties were extensively damaged.

Man Held Over Fatal Stabbing
Gardaí investigating the fatal stabbing of a 32-year-old man in Tallaght, Dublin, have arrested a man who was at the scene of the suspected murder. It is understood that father-of-one James Humphries was fatally stabbed after a row broke out at a house in Kilaton Way at around 18:40 on Sunday evening.

A man in his 60s is in hospital after being assaulted by four masked men following an attempted burglary in Dublin. The incident happened at a house on Fortfield Road, Terenure, at 9.30pm last night (Thursday). The man was confronted by the gang when he answered a knock at the door. It is understood his son was also in the house at the time.
