Minister Opens New Train Station

Minister for Transport Noel Dempsey has officially opened a new train station near Phoenix Park.

The station, which is on the grounds of the old racecourse, near the Navan Road, will be served by Maynooth line commuter trains.

Eighty-eight trains a day will serve the station and will link with Connolly, Tara Street, Pearse and Docklands stations.

Four more daily services are planned at the station, as well as additional trains on Sunday evenings.

DART Derailed By Vandals
The derailing of a DART train near Bray station on Tuesday night has been blamed on vandals. Iarnród Éireann have said that an investigation has revealed that rocks may have been dislodged from a wall above the tracks.

Teen Faces Sentencing After DART Rukcus
A Teenager is facing sentencing at a Dublin Children's Court over his part in a disturbance on board a DART train, which resulted in the carriage being evacuated. The 17-year-old, who is currently remanded on bail pending sentence, pleaded guilty to being intoxicated to such an extent he was a danger to himself and others.

Rail Services To Dublin Delayed
Rail services from Cork and Limerick to Dublin have been disrupted following an engine fault on a train today. The fault developed on the train leaving Kent Station, Cork, travelling to Heuston Station in Dublin at 5.15am. All trains that left both Cork and Limerick for Dublin before 7.30am have been delayed for 90 minutes.
