Teenage Cyclist Killed
A 15-year-old boy has been killed in a road accident in Cork early yesterday morning, bringing the number of people killed on the roads this year to 37.
The teenager was knocked down by car, believed to be a taxi, while out riding his bicycle in a residential area close to Cork city centre. The boy has been named locally as Dylan David Stark from Lower Pouladuff Road, Ballyphehane.
It is understood that the teenager was cycling with another youth at the corner of Kent Road and Pearse Street at around 12.15am yesterday morning. The boy is believed to have cycled out of an estate on Cork's southside, and into the path of the taxi.
He was taken to Cork University Hospital (CUH) but died of his injuries on arrival.
Gardai appealed for anyone who witnessed the accident to come forward.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, a 31-year-old man was killed in a crash in Co Wexford. Martin Lewis, from Ballyteigue, Kilmore Quay, was a passenger in a car that crashed into a wall at Libgate, Kilmore Quay just before 9am. Mr Lewis died instantly after being thrown from the vehicle in the collision.
The driver was described to be in a stable condition in Wexford General Hospital yesterday.

Two People Killed In Cork Road Crash
Two people have been killed in a road collision in Cork. Four other people have also been injured in the incident, which involved three vehicles on the main Cork to Limerick road at the junction for Waterloo at around 11am today, 11 September. A man and woman, both aged in their 60s, were pronounced dead at the scene.
