Bomb Found At Mail Sorting Office
A Royal Mail sorting office has been evacuated after a bomb was found on the premises in Mallusk, County Antrim.
The device was discovered at around 11.45am on Wednesday morning. The building was evacuated for over six hours before the army disarmed what police called "a viable and unstable device".
A PSNI spokeswoman said no warning had been made about the device and she would not say who it had been addressed to.
Police have also said they are not investigating a sectarian of terrorist motive in connection with the attack.
The alert came just over a week after Northern Ireland's police chief Sir Hugh Orde put the North on alert against an imminent renewed campaign by the dissident Real IRA.
Thomas Burns, the SDLP assembly member for South Antrim, described those behind the bomb as reckless and "foolish beyond belief".
He added: "Their grossly irresponsible behaviour has endangered the lives of the men and women who work at this location and that is absolutely unforgivable."
Alliance Party leader David Ford said the incident had "sent a shudder through the whole community", adding: "What sort of person would create a device like this and put postal workers' lives at risk?"

A garda station in Dublin has been evacuated following the discovery of a suspect package, understood to have been addressed to Justice Minister Alan Shatter. According to reports, the package was discovered by staff at a sorting office, who alerted garda, and triggered a security alert.

Explosive Device Made Safe In Dublin
An explosive device was made safe by the Army early on Tuesday morning in Dublin. A bomb disposal team arrived at Cushlawn Park, Tallaght, at 2.35am to deal with the object outside a private home. Local people were evacuated, and the scene was declared safe at 3.20am.

Bomb disposal experts were tasked to a Dublin pub on Sunday morning, after being alerted to the finding of a suspicious device. Experts examined the device found outside the north Dublin Jolly Toper premises, concealed in a package located in a vehicle in the car park on Church Street, Finglas at around 8.30am.

Further Bomb Alert Underway In Belfast
There's a fresh bomb alert underway in the North this afternoon with the Limestone Road in Belfast closed at its junction with Mountcollyer Avenue and York Road after a suspicious object was found. The alert follows a three-day long operation on the nearby Antrim Road that uncovered two bombs - believed to be targeted at PSNI officers.
