Community In Mourning After Tragic Accident
A close knit fishing community is preparing for a mournful two days as funerals are held for three young men killed in a freak accident.
The friends, 17-year-old Fintan O'Driscoll, Shane Kelly, aged 20, and 21-year-old Colum Harrington drowned when their car ended up in the sea near a Co Cork beauty spot a few miles from their homes. It is understood it slipped into the water after the wheels became clogged with mud.
Local priest Father Patrick Sheehan, from Castletownbere, said: "This is a close knit community and needless to say they are united in grief at the loss of these young men. We can only hope and pray that the tremendous community support for all the families is of great comfort to them in the darker days ahead."
