Brady Named As New Republic Assistant
Liam Brady has agreed a two-year deal to become an assistant to new Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni.
Former Irish midfielder Brady played under Trapattoni at Italian giants Juventus during the 1980's.
Brady will combine his new post with his role as director of the youth academy at Premiership side Arsenal, after being given permission by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.
"The board of directors and Arsene Wenger are quite happy for me to do this and to keep my job at Arsenal," Brady told RTÉ.
"Trapattoni needs to get to know the players and I can help him with that."
52-year-old Brady is considered one of the greatest Irish players of all time and won 72 caps between 1974 and 1990. His two-year contract also includes an option for a further two years.
